Spent last night in the emergency room...

Lego, see picture below, has "hot spots" right now. Basically a rash that he continually scratches and chews and is now an infected mess. Hot spots also make a dog very aggressive when you try to touch the spots. So last night Scott was sitting on top of him holding him down while i cleaned it with peroxide. All was well until I got up to get something and lego started moving around and lunged at scott's face. The result was a huge gash in his lip that ended up needing stitches. So we go to the urgent care center ($25 co-pay) and after 30-45 min of waiting are finally seen. They decide that since the cut is past the pink part of his lip they cannot fix it and we must go to the emergency and possibly could need a plastic surgeon to make sure the lip is put back together correctly. So off to the emergency room ($150 co-pay). Once there you would think someone with a huge gash out of their lip would be moved up in line but no. We had to wait about 3 hours because people for some idiotic reason go to the emergency room for colds/flu. We finally got to see the doctor and he stitched it up in about 2 minutes, after about 30-45 min of waiting in our room. I'm still mad the urgent care center didn't just fix it and save us a butt load of money.Lego, the best dog ever, does it look like he could do something like this?

Ouch! Isn't it crazy how a dog can be so good most of the time, and then have a moment that's not good at all. Hopefully, the stitches heal nicely and Scott won't have too big of a scar.

A lot of times people that don't have health insurance go the emergency room when they're sick because doctor's there have to see them. A private practice doctor can reject patients without insurance, but the emergency room can't. That's a HUGE reason why emergency room bills are so expensive and you get pretty awful service. I hope Scott's feeling better!

Ouch! Sounds like you had a fun evening. I can't believe you had to wait that long in the ER!
